You Cannot Take It With You (4)

The fourth episode in this series on Fridays on BBC2 at 9pm looked at the issue of guardianship for children.

In our experience, orphaned children are fortunately very rare but the programme emphasised the need to address difficult decisions.

One couple initially thought that a grandparent from either side of the family should be appointed guardian.  However, on reflection there could be differences of opinion and so settled on one grandparent in charge with a letter of guidance to follow.

The second case was tricky with children of different relationships.  However, by discussing matters openly with both fathers, the mother’s fear that the children might be separated was completely avoided.

This Friday’s episode concentrates on family businesses with children working in the business.
