This week is the final week for submissions to the Park Homes Working Group in relation to the Mobile Homes Act 2013 (“the Act”).
What is the Park Homes Working Group?
When the Government introduced the Act it made a commitment to review it in 2017.
However the Government is of the opinion that ‘more can be done to improve the sector’. It has therefore set up the Working Group to gather information and evidence from all parts of the sector (residents and site owners alike) about good and bad practice in the industry. The Government then intends to ‘investigate how best to raise standards further and tackle abuse’.
What does the Park Homes Working Group want to know?
The remit of the Park Homes Working Group is very wide and it is interested in hearing about ‘what more can be done to improve the sector’.
Any submissions are limited to 750 words and should address the following issues:
- What the issue(s) are
- What action(s) have been taken by you or any other party to resolve those issues
- What outcome(s) have been achieved; and
- What further action or measures you are proposing (if any)

The last day for submissions is Friday 29 May 2015.
Should I send a submission to the Park Homes Working Group?
It is clear from recent legislative changes and the establishment of the Park Homes Working Group that the Government is keen to further regulate the industry and additional legislation should be expected.
The Act, which is described by the Government as ‘the biggest shake up in park homes legislation in the last thirty years’, has been met with mixed feelings in the industry. However the opportunity to inform the Government of the impact (both good and bad) the Act has had on your business, and the sector in general, is one that should not be missed.
